LEADERS
WHO HAVE ALREADY DONE THE WORK
Our founding leadership team has spent years building safety patrols, children’s homes, youth programmes, civic forums and local economic partnerships. They bring that experience and that accountability to the SPPSA.
SELLO MASHULA
SPPSA President
SELLO MASHULA is a dedicated community leader, social advocate and political strategist rooted in Mamelodi. His career in public service began within the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL), where he served as Deputy Chairperson and subsequently Chairperson of his branch. He led his ANC branch from 2016 until early 2025 and stepped down to become the co-founder of the Security Personnel Party of South Africa (SPPSA), a focused vehicle for sector-specific advocacy and national transformation.
Throughout his career, Sello has been a vocal champion for township economic development. His targeted advocacy was instrumental in supporting the Gauteng Government’s adoption of the Township Economy Revitalisation (Kasi Revitalisation) programme, designed to stimulate and sustain black-owned business growth. Parallel to his economic initiatives, his commitment to youth empowerment is reflected in his extensive community skills development initiatives.
In 2013, Sello established the Umkhumbi Place of Safety and Children’s Home, an organization dedicated to caring for orphans, children with disabilities and survivors of domestic abuse and violence. His personal philanthropic initiatives include annual birthday donation drives providing school shoes and sanitary products to underprivileged learners. In 2025, this initiative scaled significantly, supporting 5,000 learners across five Mamelodi schools with essential winter clothing, including gloves, beanies and scarves.
An active proponent of grassroots security, Sello participates in local community safety patrol networks, directly funding and providing critical equipment for daily operations across three wards in Mamelodi. He remains a prominent voice for local enterprise accountability, consistently engaging the City of Tshwane’s leadership to protect township livelihoods and advocate for equitable policy alternatives during urban development transitions.
As President of the SPPSA, Sello’s vision is to forge strategic partnerships with security enterprises nationwide. He is dedicated to driving a safer South Africa by ensuring private security officers are formally recognised, equipped and integrated as a crucial pillar of the country’s broader safety ecosystem.
MOLOANTOA KGOPA
SPPSA Deputy Secretary General
MOLOANTOA KGOPA is a social activist and economic development strategist dedicated to the advancement of Mamelodi and its surrounding communities. His leadership journey began as a Branch Executive Committee member of the African National Congress (ANC). Following his graduation, he went on to pioneer and lead several local civic movements and economic forums, ultimately leveraging this grassroots expertise to become of the co-founders of the SPPSA.
A steadfast advocate for localised economic transformation, Moloantoa has spent his career championing township revitalisation, with a specific focus on women and youth employment. In 2024, he founded the Tshwane Shumishanang Community Development Forum, where he serves as Deputy Chairperson. Under his leadership, the forum has successfully upskilled and integrated numerous local, black-owned contractors into the regional construction industry, driving tangible workforce participation for previously marginalized groups.
Further expanding his portfolio of economic oversight, Moloantoa serves as the Chairperson of the Mamelodi, Nellmapius and Eersterust (MNE) Stakeholders Forum, established in 2022. In this capacity, he drives corporate accountability among large enterprises operating within the three townships, advocating for localized hiring practices and the inclusion of community businesses in mainstream supply chains. Additionally, as a South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO) Branch Chairperson, he remains a vital voice against social and civic injustices at a municipal level.
Moloantoa’s commitment to community welfare is also reflected in his social responsibility initiatives, including hosting an annual Christmas celebration for underprivileged children across the MNE region.
As Deputy Secretary General of the SPPSA, his focus is on strengthening, empowering and safeguarding the socio-economic interests of security personnel. He views the private security sector as an essential pillar of national economic stability, asserting that a robust, well-protected security workforce is fundamental to unlocking and sustaining a prosperous economy in South Africa.
